Annual Conference (May 12-15, 2005 in Kansas City, Missouri)
CFEA Back To SchoolMay 12-15, 2005 • Kansas City, Mo. • Embassy SuitesDon't be too cool to go Back to School! Mark your calendar, grab your old trapper keeper and head to Kansas City with other CFEA members, May 12-15, 2005, for the CFEA Back to School annual conference at the Embassy Suites Country Club Plaza. We'll start off Thursday afternoon with tours of Banta Publications and Hallmark Headquarters, for those people who can arrive early. Plan to arrive in time for the 7:30 p.m. “Class of 2005” Dessert Reception. We'll have a welcome, desserts, receive mentor assignments and network with other members and sponsors. We'll also take on a community service project by assisting a local non-profit philanthropic organization with a variety of their communication needs. Friday morning begins with keynote speaker Dr. Don Ranly, professor of journalism at the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism, sharing his 30+ years of experience and expertise. He will enlighten us with two presentations, “Reinventing Print” and “39 Errors You Don't Want to Make.” Additional conference curriculum will include workshops on writing, design, web and technology, roundtable discussions and the annual CFEA student council meetings where members can make a difference in CFEA. Friday afternoon will feature a “Freshman Orientation” session just for the new editors to introduce them to CFEA and managing fraternal communications. Friday night we'll hit the town on a field trip to historic Gates BBQ World Headquarters for a classic KC style dinner then to Comedy Sportz, for a laugh-a-minute “Whose Line is it Anyway” type comedy show. (Friday night is included in your registration fee.) The highlight of the conference will be Prom on Saturday evening for the annual CFEA/NIF Publications Awards banquet. (Tuxedo and prom dress optional.) You also don't want to miss valuable time with our sponsors who will have booths and plenty of information to share with you. With all this, the opportunity to interact with your peers, and the chance to go back to school one more time, who wouldn't want to come to Kansas City in May? HOTEL INFORMATION
